Are You Tough Enough

Okay, so this morning I made a somewhat controversial post on Facebook. If you missed it, here's what I wrote:

"I've been watching some of you in class and you're ready for the "next level" in your fitness.

You're ready to raise the bar and do what needs to be done to get that fit, toned and head turning all out sculpted look you're after.

I know for me, I've been away a lot this fall (hunting) and I am looking for a serious KICK IN THE A$$.

Several years ago, I ran an extremely tough program called Are You Tough Enough. It was a huge hit, incredibly tough and EXTREMELY beneficial. Hard bodies we're sculpted in that program, and nothing was left on the table.

I don't want to go into the Holiday season out of shape and sloppy and soft, I want to go in feeling like a million bucks - I need this program and I am toying with the idea of running a short yet POWERFUL 5 week program, twice a week - with homework on the off days - that would start next Monday Nov 16th, and end Dec 17th.

There's a few things though...

1 - There's no sugar coating this, it's tough, it's intense, and it's powerful. Results don't just "happen" by themselves. We're going to make them happen with incredible workouts that are going to test you and push you to your max.

2 - It's not for everyone, in fact, this program will be by ACCEPTANCE only. You will need to APPLY by sending me an email at getfit@familykickboxing.net.

3 - It's not just kickboxing, it's not just weight lifting, it's a mixture of everything.

4 - Because of how tough - and awesome and result producing - it's going to be, I want the most motivated folks there, and originally I was thinking of pricing it very high to really weed out the tire kickers, but instead I decided to go with the application method mentioned in point 2, so it's only going to be $150, which comes down to only 15 bucks a class - pretty darn cheap for a body that's going to look like a million bucks.

5 - Yes, it's going to overlap other classes, and that's why this class will be STRICTLY limited with NO exceptions so please, don't be crushed if you are NOT accepted into the program because not everyone will be.

Again, this program is designed to be that extra kick in the butt, that added blast of intensity to push you over from average body to fit, strong, athletic, sculpted and toned body.

Essentially, this post is to "test the waters" and see who can keep up with me and even surpass me, to see who wants to join a small group of like minded go - getters who aren't here to complain but are here to TRAIN.

If you're that person, I look forward to hearing from you... ASAP."

Doesn't seem that bad right?

I've since gotten a bunch of emails, and before I start replying, I want to clear a few things up, and maybe "explain" my thinking a bit.

My goal with these 5 weeks is to crush your belief about what's really possible in 5 weeks, but in order to do this, in order for it to really "work" I need very SPECIFIC people in the group.

I want to say right up front, I am NOT trying to be rude or condescending with this email, I have the utmost respect for each and everyone of you no matter where along your journey you are.

BUT, just like we run MANY programs that are designed SPECIFICALLY for people who have lots of weight they are trying to lose, and are NOT made for folks who are only looking to tone up or drop a few pounds, this program is the exact opposite.

If you are just starting off your weight loss journey and are in terrible shape (don't feel bad, we've ALL started there!), this is probably NOT for you.

This program is designed for those that are already in okay or great shape, can keep up to all the classes so far without feeling utterly overwhelmed and basically like you're dying...

This program is going to be extremely MENTALLY tough. Did I already say extremely? Good. Our bodies are infinitely strong, it's our minds that usually give up first - and this is why I'm looking for a very specific group.

I want to make sure I'm very clear and explaining myself without insulting anyone...

Take for example someone in the beginner class, over time, they will reach a point where, without some SERIOUS mental effort on their part, they will no longer improve. They need to go into a HARDER class in order to raise their standard, their results.

That seems like common sense to me... lol.

Once someone jumps into the intermediate class and they notice that THEY are now at the bottom of the pile, they are forced to work hard to catch up to the group and with that comes a new level of results.

A persons standards SELDOM exceed the expectations of their peer group.

It's like you've heard your whole life, if you want to be better at say basketball, play against someone who's better than you, if you only ever play with kids or beginners, you aren't going to get any better.

Well, what I'm looking to do with this intense group is pull out those that are mentally "ready to kick ass" and create a room with immense power, immense energy, immense "do or die trying" attitude.

Imagine a room full of top players, a room of folks ONLY going all out.

A room where the second you slack, you notice you're the ONLY one slacking, and it's painful.

A room where we all push each other together to create a new standard, a new level of excellence, a new level of effort, and a new level of results.

Usually, when I promote a program I spend most of the time explaining the countless benefits that are going to come out of the program - but not this time.

You already know what's possible, you've seen it in some of the die-hards at the club like Kristy and Shelley.

Listen, if you need to be convinced that it will be worth it, this program won't be a good fit...

Instead, I want to spend more time looking for those that are already aware of what they want, what's possible, and are looking to STEP IT UP.

This program is NOT going to be soft and cuddly.
It's NOT going to be "politically correct".
And in the moment, it's not going to feel "FUN"!

Before you reply saying you want in make sure that you...

Are 100% ready to go all out at every step.
Are ready to be SELF MOTIVATED. If you need hand holding, this program WON'T be a good fit.
Can make it through a killer class without whining, complaining, bitching, slacking, etc.

I know, I know... This sounds mean :( and I'm sorry it comes across this way...

But picture this...

We're all doing a drill, going all out...

It's been 45 minutes, you feel like puking, passing out, giving up. You've giving yourself ever mental pep talk you can think of. Every inch of your body and mind is saying quit, slow down, give up, but EVERY SINGLE PERSON around you is still going, so you can't stop, you can't quit, you know I'll give you shit, call you out, harp to keep going, so you keep it up, you keep pushing, you finish strong, and despite how crappy it felt in the moment, you're extremely proud of yourself for NOT GIVING UP - and bam, your standard has been raised and with it comes increased confidence and self esteem.

Now what if you were in the exact same situation, your brain is desperately looking for any reason to give up, but you keep on pushing, then all of a sudden someone right next to you quits, slows down, starts looking around and moping. What happens to you instantly? What happens to your mental toughness and motivation and drive? It's gone. Your focus is gone, part of you now gives you permission to quit, heck you don't need to go all out, as long as your going harder than the slowest person right, and the intensity drops. and the worst part, you're confidence GOES DOWN knowing you settled for less. You slowed down, you gave up.

It's a fact of life, we raise or lower our own standards based on everything around us, based on what's expected of us.

We're got loads of programs where the focus is on new folks, out of shape folks, folks looking to transform their lives, and we always will have those programs - but this one program, these 5 weeks are going to be focused on those already in shape, already mentally strong, but looking to get ripped and sculpted and absolutely crush their goals and views on what's possible.

And all this in 5 weeks.

But, there's one catch - if we don't get a good size group to make it "worth it" I won't be running it. So, if you're looking to step up and kick ass, hit reply and email me.

If all goes well, we will start Monday, and classes will run tues-thurs at 6pm for 5 weeks.

Oh, I do want to make one little distinction...

I'm looking primarily for people that are "mentally" tough - and not necessarily in the best shape or what not.

I'm looking for the person who goes all out at the level they are at. The person that sees every drill as a chance to go nuts. A person who runs instead of jogs. Who hits hard instead of tickle's the bag, who pushes their limits, etc.

If that person is you, this is going to be empowering.

To your success

Al

Bet you didn't know I was Picasso

This is an amazing email... I've solved all the problems in the world ;)

Okay, not really, but this email WILL help SUBSTANTIALLY in many areas of your life.

- Personal
- Weight Loss
- Business/Career
- Flexibility
- Personal Development
- Gaining Muscle
- Toning Up
- etc.

In case you haven't heard these before, here's a few quotes to get the mind pondering a bit... I'm sure they've all been "said" by someone, but I'm just going to leave them blank for now, if you really want to find the sources go nuts on your own time LOL.

"Always be learning"
"If you aren't improving, you're falling behind"
"Your schooling may end, but your education should not"
"The harder you are on yourself, the easier life is on you"
"If you aren't growing, you're dying."
"Life happens outside the comfort zone"
"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra"
"Work harder on yourself than you do on your job"
"Personal development (improvement) is a personal choice."
"Improvement rarely happens by accident"
"If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you."

Those are all great quotes, and all talking basically about the same thing.

Some of you may have already seen the post I wrote on Facebook this morning. (Click HERE to follow our page:)

In case you didn't, here it is:

"
Don't ever lose sight of the fact that you, and you alone are 100% responsible for your own life. You create the life you want. As Jim Rohn would say, "If you don't like where you are, change it. YOu are NOT a tree."

You are the leader, the decision maker, the doer, the achiever.

You can achieve anything you set your mind to, as long as you accept that "if it's to be, it's up to me!".
"

The funny thing is, the more I think about it, the more I realize just how much the saying "life happens outside the comfort zone" applies to EVERYTHING.

I've been trying to find a way to explain this in a way that is HELPFUL, and NOT condescending. I don't mean to put you down if you're stuck, I'm trying to positively push you and challenge you to be the BEST version of YOU possible. Don't hate me for wanting the you to be the best version of you possible and giving you shit if you're selling yourself short. LOL.

For me, I've very visual, so I'm going to open up my handy dandy note book (that's right, I watch Blue's Clues too.) and start drawing you some awesomely talented pictures.

First one...

I know, I should have autographed the bottom corner, next time.

Most people have already seen this picture/saying before. I'm NOT saying that what you have, what you ARE, right now, today, is not AWESOME. But if you have a WORTHWHILE goal, something you really want, wish, dream about, I can guarantee you it is OUTSIDE of your comfort zone. Otherwise, you would just go out and get it. Every challenge you need to overcome to get that "thing" is a comfort zone thing. Need more money? Better stretch he comfort zone and figure out how to earn more. (Earn, key word.) Need to lose weight? Better stretch the comfort zone and figure out how to lose it. Need a new/better job? Better stretch the comfort zone and figure out what it's going to take to get it.

Unfortunately, most people dismiss this picture/saying at this point.

But let's dig a little deeper...

Back to my note book I go...

I know, this should be framed.

If FLEXIBILITY is a goal, what you can do NOW, is your comfort zone.

Your goal, say the splits, is OUTSIDE of your comfort zone. And you will NEVER improve your flexibility if you do not stretch, i.e. go past, your comfort zone.

Let's zoom in on this work of art...

Isn't that beautiful, and yea, I added color. Better watch out now.

Here's the part that most people get tripped up on..

"What got you here, won't get you there"

Actually, I have a book by the same title somewhere, and it's all about business, but the SAME rules of life apply.

If you decide, hey, I'm going to take up a stretching program, do it 3 times a week for 15 minutes, and next thing you know you've improved your flexibility up to the green line. That's awesome, you've made progress and should be proud of what you've accomplished.

BUT, if you only ever do what got you there, if you only ever stretch at the GREEN line, you will NEVER reach the red line, or your ultimate goal.

You need to push PAST the discomfort, you need to push past the challenges, the obstacles, and continually raise your standards in order to get closer and closer, and hopefully eventually, to the red line, your goal.

Again, doing the same exact things that got you to the green line will NOT get you to the red line. You need to push your legs to stretch PAST, in order for that to become the new comfort zone. There is NO way around that. You CANNOT get into a full split by only ever bringing your legs to a 90 degree stretch, or say 50%. Even if you stretch every single day, twice a day, an hour each time, in a 50% stretch position, you will NEVER reach a full split. NEVER. EVER. You can sit ALL DAY EVERY DAY in a 50% stretch and it JUST WON'T WORK!

You. Need. To Raise. The. Bar.

Let's flip over to weight loss.

It's EASY to lose weight when you start a new program, start eating clean, start being more positive, etc.

That's the EASY part.

That's what EVERYONE does.

Nearly everyone, who has weight to lose, loses weight when they start.

Let's take Mr. Smith here, coming in at 400 pounds with a weight loss goal of dropping 200 pounds. A very worthy goal.

At first, the weight's going to come off EASY.

BUT, there's going to come a time, a month, 3 months, 6 months, who knows, where the weight loss is going to slow down, maybe stop, and sometimes even REVERSE.

Why?

Because the energy, the effort put in, needs to be continually increased.

Fact is, when you weigh 400 pounds, your body is working extremely hard just to move around, so the weigh comes off good, but as you lose weight, your body doesn't have to work as hard, so unless YOU work harder, the effectiveness of the same effort is going to DECREASE.

Now this example is easy to see when we're talking about someone losing 200 pounds, but the truth is, I see this challenge BEAT more people who are only trying to lose 20 or 40 pounds than with the 200+ weight loss losers. (Actually, those who have 200 pounds to lose usually don't even bother to START until mentally they are in it for the long haul, ready to give it 100.)

I see it time and time again, someone joins a program, like Beast Most, Kickboxing, Little Black Dress (BTW, click HERE to register/learn more, registration just opened and will sell out quick), etc. and at first they are super pumped, excited, stoked, and come in cheering, putting all their might into each and every drill. It's fresh, it's fun, it's easy to be passionate and excited and nervous and scared all at the same time because it's pushing past your comfort zone.

BUT, once that new stuff wears off, it now becomes your new, expanded comfort zone. And what did we say about comfort zone? Growth rarely happens in it.

I look around and I see people who THINK they are going all out, just because they are putting in the same effort that they were doing when they started 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months ago, yet they don't realize that they are actually slowly getting worst. If you are in better shape, yet are lifting the same weight, hitting the same amount of times per 15 seconds, hitting just as hard, kicking just as fast, squatting the same, etc. then you are NO LONGER improving.

And then people start to get miserable, disappointed, and start saying well this no longer works, its the workouts, its the meal plan, its the coaches, its the weather, its my clothes, its the blue jays, something. But it's obviously NOT them.

The funny thing, it's the same with relationships.

My wife and I just went through a learning curve, a stretching of the comfort zone, a growth period where we really had to take a look at our lives and figure out what we need to do to get to the ultimate PASSION we used to have, and I'm happy to say we are well on our way to that.

It's far easier to say well, all relationships fizzle out after a while, once the puppy love faze goes by, but that's a cop out. We've been married for 6 and a half years, granted it's NOT the 30 or so many of you have, but I can tell you this: passion is created, not something that just "IS", and to create it you have to push past the comfort zones.

Okay, this isn't supposed to turn into a relationship email LOL BUT, while we're on the subject, pick up a book called 5 languages of love by Gary Chapman, it's freaking amazing, (funny side note, I told Koral I had to go to chapters to get a book, and she said great she'll come since she was looking for a certain book too, and we both were going there to get the exact same book, without either of us having ever talked about the book before!)

Oh, and again since we're on this topic, if you have kids grab the 5 languages of love for KIDS book, it's EXTREMELY "eye opening" and really helps connect with your kids in the way that THEY feel love, and I can tell you not all your kids feel love the same way. TELLING them all "I love you" is not received the same for everyone, and in a way it's heart breaking to read because it makes you think damn, all this time i though doing or saying X was showing my kids i love them, but really what this one needs is THIS and that needs THIS, etc.

Okay, back to my works of art.

The first bit is the EASY part, the first few pounds, the firsts few "percentages", it's later that it gets real tough.

You seem the reason so many people are overweight is because that's the easy route. (Well, easy at first, it sucks when you can' chase your kids, walk up a flight of stairs, or have cancer. I just received an email from another health site I follow and the subject line was "I'm sorry, you have cancer" and the first line in the email was, well, if you don't, take a look at the next two people closest to you, because one in 3 will. Talk about eye-opening!)

Reaching your ultimate goal is NOT easy. It's tough.

Ever hear the saying "It's not so much about the goal, it's about the person you have to become in order to reach the goal"? That's a powerful saying.

Why is maintaining an AWESOME, toned, ripped body so easy? Because in order to get there, you have to go THROUGH so many mental battles, that once you're there, you're a different person. You're not someone who gives up. You're not someone who puts half effort in. You're not someone who loses sight of what's important, what's a priority. You're not someone who let's others, or even their own "current feelings" dictate whether or not they workout. They stay in shape because along the way, they became an achiever, a winner, a leader of their own life, a decider of their own fate, they've shaped their destiny.

And that person that you become is someone that will help you in ALL areas of life, not just fitness.

So the next time you're in class, the next time you face an obstacle, remember, you are in charge. You can choose to give up, or buckle up. You can choose to tear down the wall or sit behind it. You can choose to crush it, or be crushed.

There's nothing you can't handle if you're committed. And you can't handle anything if you are not.

Don't settle for less.
Don't quit.
Don't give up on yourself.

Be who you are destined to be.

It's worth it.

To your success,

Al

Ready?

Most of you have already seen the many, many before and after pics on the walls, success stories and transformations that have come through our doors over the years.

Want to know what all of these people have in common?

They've decided, key word, that their health, their vitality, is a priority.

I was just reading an article by Gary Vaynerchuk called How I Finally Got Serious About My Health in which he says something about working out that stuck with me: Starting now could mean 20 extra years of doing what you love. Isn’t that reason enough? Definitely was for me.

The one thing we've always tried to encourage is that YOU ARE WORTH IT.

No matter how you look at it, working out, getting healthy, losing weight, being in shape, being active, being able to keep up with your kids, being able to wear that sexy outfit, being comfortable in the bedroom, being confident on the beach, what ever way you look at it, YOU ARE WORTH IT.

You are worth so much more than a quick fix, a one time loss, poisoning the system with products that produce short lived, if any, results.

The people who transform their lives, the folks who achieve their goals, the ones who go after their dreams with relentless pursuit understand that fitness, health and wellness is a LIFELONG journey.

And that's exactly why, twice a year, we offer something, to a VERY limited number of people, at an incredible rate.

We do this to reward those who are in it for the long haul, those who love beating the crap out of the heavy bag, those who love the workouts, those who love their bodies.

That offer is Lifetime Memberships

And they go up for grabs next week.

But, for those that are new to this, pay close attention to HOW IT WORKS. These ALWAYS sell out, there are ALWAYS people complaining that they missed out, and there are ALWAYS people looking to squeeze in after - and that doesn't fly!

As a regular Kickboxing go-er, if you're going monthly, you're looking at investing about $1200 a year on memberships.

The Lifetime Memberships are exactly what they sound like, a ONE TIME membership that'll last you for the rest of your life. Technically, we can only legally sell 25 year memberships, so in 25 years we'll gladly restart the 25 lol.

These exclusive memberships run at $1000 and will be available on Thursday, October 29th - ONLY.

Well, sort of.

You see, when I first started offering these about 4-5 years ago, as soon as I hit SEND, I had people trying to squeeze in early, offer me a bit more to save their spot, you name it.

So in an effort to keep things ethical, I came up with a fun way to level the playing field and keep things exciting.

Here's how it works:

There are a total of 15 Lifetime Memberships up for grabs.

15. That's it. Not 16.

The second we hit 15, and we ALWAYS DO, it's closed, deals over, and you'll have to wait 6 months for the next one. (I should add that in the next 6 months, you'll end up investing about another $600 in memberships, so don't miss you ;)

On Friday, TODAY, October 23rd, the Lifetime Memberships are $1500.
On Saturday, October 24th, they are $1450
On Monday, October 26th, they are $1300
On Tuesday, October 27th, they are $1200
On Wednesday, October 28th, they are $1100.
And, the grand finale, on Thursday, October 29th, they are $1000.

Here's the thing...

No matter WHAT day you grab yours on, and no matter at that $, it still comes out of the 15 TOTAL Lifetimes available.

What does that mean?

It means that If you decide to "gamble" and wait a few days for a lower $, you risk losing out completely.

For example, if 14 people come in today, and one comes in tomorrow, that's 15 and they are SOLD OUT. And I'm giving you FAIR WARNING, they ALWAYS sell out.

Always.

Here's the thing...

If you're thinking of sticking around for a year, if you've got goals to reach, if you've got enough stress built up that you need a bag to beat the crap out of, if you value your health, your life, and you love being here - this is the best deal out there.

And the deal starts in

3....

Let the games begin!

Hope +/- Limiting Beliefs

"Hope that is not backed by certainty is destined for failure"
- Some random dude I forget his name

I little while ago I had written a newsletter about HOPE not being a good enough action plan. Hope is an ESSENTIAL part to success of any type, but not an action plan. You don't go to war thinking "I hope I make it through this!"

As usual, I was listening to some personal development stuff in my car and they were discussing hope, but from a different perspective. "Hope that is not backed by certainty is destined for failure" is a phrase that really stuck with me and got me thinking...

Think about it...

Do you think that any great success was ever achieved without someone thinking (knowing), without a doubt, that they would be successful? I'm not going to take the time to list reference after reference to prove my point, but common sense tells you that when you set a goal, you should have certainty that you can, AND WILL achieve that goal.

How foolish would it be to set a goal not even sure if you can do it? I mean sure, we set goals that are out of our reach, that's where the growth happens, but regardless of how big, we should be certain that we can grow to meet the goal.

Using weight loss as an example... If you wanted to lose 50 pounds, should you not be certain you could lose it? Sure, you may have doubts, fears, concerns, and all that other stuff - but at the core of the goal, should you not be certain you could achieve it? And when we say you should be certain, we're talking about self doubt, not actual physical ability. For example, if you want to lose 100 pounds, but you only weigh 150 pounds soak and wet, that's unrealistic and certainly NOT possible. But if you weight 300 pounds and want to drop 100, odds are it's certainly possible, regardless of your own thoughts on it.

When someone doesn't believe they can do it at their core, when they start making progress, especially if they start getting close to actually reaching the goal, they start sabotaging themselves. Yes, they ruin their own success - and this happens in ALL areas of life: relationships, finances, fitness/nutrition/health, career, sports, etc.

You see, when you have deep, underlying fears and doubts, which are called LIMITING BELIEFS, you're chances of success, especially sustainable success, are SLIM TO NONE.

Did you get that?

And many of these limiting beliefs appear sub-conscious, almost like you aren't even aware of them - but they are there none the less. If you've ever gotten close to a goal then crumbled, or achieved a goal then lost it all, you've experienced first hand the powerful impact of your own limiting beliefs.

There are many different types of limiting beliefs (using weight loss again as an example), such as but one of the strongest is simply fear of failure. It's actually pretty amazing just how many people are scared of failing, scared of coming up short, scared of letting themselves down, that they've settled for a life of never trying again. Which, in turn is the ultimate failure.

And as soon as somone starts to see results, or gets closer to reaching a goal the fear of failure can often get much stronger and without seemingly changing anything (i.e. diet, workouts), the results start to decrease and we start spiraling downward.

Now, I won't kid you, discovering what your limiting beliefs are is a lengthy process, but one worth every single minute it takes. I recommend stopping by the club and picking up Tony Robbin's book Awaken the Giant Within, he'll take you through everything you need to do to identify those negative beliefs, eradicate them and step up.

But for now, the best and easiest thing you can do is to associate as much PLEASURE to REACHING your goal, and as much PAIN to NOT reaching your goal (or staying at your current state), as possible.

You need to make it so that your brain feels PAIN to how you are right now, and PLEASURE to how you will be once you reach your goal. I know some of you might be saying to yourself "but I am in pain, I hate my body right now", and that might be true, but at your core you've taught you're brain that your current state is PLEASURE, and striving towards a goal is PAIN. If it wasn't that way, you'd be at your goal already.

I don't want to get too personal, but let me just say this: If you are committed to losing weight, and are constantly posting pictures on Facebook that say things like "I'm a big girl/guy, you should accept me for who I am", the odds of you actually losing weight sustainably are SLIM TO NONE.

Beacuse being a big girl/guy is bad or people shouldn't accept you that way? Absolutely not. That's not what I said at all. People SHOULD accept you for who you are, but if YOU'VE decided to step up and improve yourself, that's what needs to come across.

But YOU are sending YOUR brain a mixed signal. You're telling yourself "Hey, I'm overweight, it's not healthy, I might not get to see my kids grow old if I don't make a change, I need to change, I need to lose weight and get healthy", and then you turn around and post a meme that now tells your brain "you're okay like you are, people should love you this way, it's who you are".

Those are clashing messages.

Like I've always said, the outside is a reflection of the inside. Our self talk, our limiting beliefs, our philosophies about life are ALL mirrored on our outside. If someone is overweight, I know what their beliefs are, their philosophy about life, health, etc.

So, that takes me to the point of this whole email...

Summer. Is. Coming.

And, if you want, if you're up for it, if you've got what it takes, I suggest you make this spring, and this summer, the summer you put all excuses aside and you go for it.

You don't hold back.
You don't waste time.
You don't cave.
You don't goof around.
You don't half-fast things.

You buckle down, suck it up, and do what needs to be done and you don't stop until you are proud.

As you may know, we have a new Beast Mode starting up on Monday - and you probably barely heard anything about it.

Why? Because the class is so effective that the same group that started in the very first Beast Mode almost a year ago are still in the Beast Mode today. They just keep "re-joining".

The class is designed with one thing in mind: results.

In fact, we're repeatedely/consistently seeing people lose 1inch per week, and some. How'd you like to drop 8-12 inches by the end of June?

We're seeing ladies tone and tighten the dreaded "bat wings" under the arms like no other class does.

We're a talking toned, defined body that doesn't just say "I lost weight" but "I worked freaking hard for this body and look drop dead sexy". We're talking fit and athletic, not skinny.

We're talking head turning results - and unbelievably fast.

But there's a CATCH.

The class is HARD. We use a variety of cross training techniques to force the body into hyper result producing mode.

How hard? Well, I had a gentlemen who wanted to join but wanted to try a class out before because he's obese, so he came out, tried a class, and the next day he sent me a message something along the lines of "I've never been so sore in my life and I'm absolutely IN!"

I want to re-state what I just said, he's not in shape. Far from it. And that's how MOST are when they start Beast Mode. That's the whole darn point!!!

I get people ask me all the time, "can I handle it, I'm really out of shape" - the answer is YES! This is MADE FOR YOU!

The class is challenging, and incredibly rewarding.

There are two options to choose from: AM, which runs 5 days a week (m-f) at 6AM, and there are evening classes which run M-W at 7PM, T-T at 7PM.

Now, like I mentioned earlier, people are addicted to the results and keep "re-joining" so space is STRICLY limited (which is why I usually don't talk much about it!) and one of the BEST ways to eliminate the TIRE KICKERS and get the SERIOUS folks after SERIOUS results is with a solid entry fee. The AM runs at $499, the PM runs at $399. (If you are re-joining, it's only $200, because now we know you are serious :)

Beast Mode starts Monday, May 4th. And by the end June, you'll be a new person. It's amazing what 8 weeks of solid, committed action can produce.

The question is, how serious are YOU?

Do you have limiting beliefs holding you back, or are you ready for a breakthrough?

Make this the summer of your dreams.

If you are serious, if you are READY, I look forward to seeing you in class

To your success

Al

PS - Space is limited, hit reply to reserve your spot asap.

Don't undo your progress...!

You worked too darn hard for it!

Well, it looks like summer is just about here and the temperature is (supposed) to rise. Like most of you, I've got a zillion and one things I'd like to get done this summer, and I know many of you are going to be taking some well deserved time off - but before you do, I have some news you might want to hear about!

If you've been busting your butt for a while in class, odds are you've either lost a few pounds (or quite a few!) or you've lost inches, gained muscle, relieved some build up stressed, feel more comfortable in your clothes, feel more empowered, breathe easier, and so much more.

If you've listened to anything we've said since you've entered our world here at Family Kickboxing, then you also know this: Our goal is NOT to put you through a workout, it's to transform your life.

And just like bathing doesn't last, neither does fitness. Does that mean you should stop bathing? I sure hope not. What it means is bathing, and fitness, need to become parts of your every day life.

Don't hit delete just yet! I'm not here to give you shit!

Now, because I KNOW some of you are crazy busy in the summer, and you WILL be missing quite a few classes, it can get hard to justify 100 bucks a month if you're only going to make it out once a week! I totally get it. But I still don't want you to throw all the progress you've made out the window.

So here's what I have in mind, especially if you've experienced any sort of positive benefits from your time here. (Because I can GUARANTEE you that many of you that take the summer off will be putting back on a few of those lost pounds and possibly losing some of the benefits you've worked so hard to get!) :( :( :(

I've got two ideas for you...

And before we get started, I want you to know that this is NOT a cry for you to keep coming 4 days a week and devoting the same effort you have been during the winter months. For many, that's simply unrealistic. I know I'll be missing more time then usual with the kids summer sports starting this week.(The funny thing is that I LOVE summer classes because it's the ONLY time in the year where we have classes with less than 20 people in them which means we get to do so many more fun drills!! LOL!!!) .

BUT, with that being said, I would strongly encourage you to try and make it out at least once a week to beat the shit out of the bag and work off some of the hamburgers and beer.

Here's what I have in mind...

Option number one is this: If you grab a 6 month membership right now, I won't start it until September 1st - and you can STILL attend as many classes as you want for the rest of the summer. That's adding 3 months FREE.

What if you already have a membership and instead of wasting it you were just going to put it on hold and take the summer off?

Well that's where option number TWO comes in: The Mighty Punch Card. (It's not actually called that, but it sounded cool. I can picture some Godzilla looking punch card in my head, can you?). A 20 class punch card runs at $225, and doesn't expire.

What this means is you can put your current memberships on HOLD, use your punch card in the meantime, and when you are all out of classes on the card, (which will probably be in the fall if you average 5-8 classes a month) you can simply put your membership back on. And remember, it doesn't expire, so even if you only drop in once a week to shake off some stress, you can keep right on using that card for as long as you want.

So again, option 1 is simple, grab a 6 month membership right now and get the rest of the summer free, your memberships won't start until the fall. Or, option 2, throw your membership on hold (or even if you don't currently have a membership) and grab a 20 class punch card for $225 and use it as you need it.

The goal is simple...to try and MINIMIZE any damage done (I.E LOSS OF PROGRESS, AKA PUTTING THE FAT BACK ON!) and keep you somewhat active throughout the summer months. And for the record, playing baseball and then sitting on a tailgate drinking beer till midnight is NOT keeping active.

Oh, and before I forget, one last thing... You should probably read this email right HERE right now. (Miss that? Click HERE!)

That's all for today :)

To your success,

Al

Yes, you can have the body of your dreams.

Summer's here, and I'm starting to see who's serious about their goals, and who's not.

We've all got a million and one things to do, so I'll do my best to keep this as short as possible.

We're going to be running another Beast Mode, but ONLY in the MORNING (6AM) but with a slight CHANGE that has been requested by many of you...

One of the biggest challenges people have with Beast Mode is this: Because it's every day of the week, they miss the Kickboxing, and because it's tough/highly effective it's hard to do both - until now.

We are going to be making a change to the Beast Mode routine for the summer, by ADDING kickboxing classes into the mix.

Monday,Tuesday and Thursday will be our regular, result producing, body sculpting, body toning Beast Mode workouts, and Wednesday and Fridays will be high intensity, butt kicking Kickboxing workouts.

"But 6 am is soooooo earllllyyyyyyy"

A few quick notes...

There are ZERO "double bookings" at 6am, no dinners to attend, no birthday parties to go to, no meetings to make. Nothing happens at 6am that can get in your way of your workout.
Sure, at first 6am may be an adjustment for some, but you'll find by the end of your first week you'll have established a routine, and once the habit's established it really is a piece of cake.
It's MUCH cooler at 6am. When we open up those big bay doors, it's cool, fresh morning air that comes in. That's by far the best part.
Your body's going to keep "revving" all day long, burning far more calories and producing far better results.
You get the workout in and still have the whole day to do what ever the heck you need to do. Your health, your body, finally can come first.
The mornings are much quieter, only 5-10 of us, which makes for much more efficient workouts.

By now, you've probably already heard everything there is to hear about Beast Mode and it's high level result producing workouts, so I'm not going to spend time explaining it.

This new Beast Mode starts Monday, July 6th. Runs Mon-Fri at 6am, and runs at $499 + hst ($199+hst for repeats)

8 weeks from now, you WILL be blown away by what you've achieved in such short time. Just ask any of the Beast Mode regulars and they'll explain why it's the top notch.

Don't step backwards this summer.

To your success,

Al

P.S.: - Don't forget, with the summer special you can grab a 6 month membership, we'll start it in September and give you the summer free.

P.P.S.: Book your calendars, Fitness After Dark is coming Friday, July 10th.

It's finally here!!!

After much anticipation, our first ever, highly empowering, life changing, confidence building, body sculpting Little Black Dress Project program is ready to be released!

Because this is NOT your every day "ladies only" program I'm going to try and be as thorough as possible with the program details so you know exactly what to expect, what the results are going to look and feel like, and what life transformation we're talking about.

For starters, we are launching this program as a Beta program to give us a chance to tweak it if we need too - and it's going to DOUBLE in price after this run.

What is LBD?

Over the past 12 and a half years transforming lives of literally thousands of people, we got to thinking, wondering, how I could have an even GREATER impact on the lives of our clients - this time specifically women.

There's no doubt that when someone comes to us with a weight loss goal, and we get them there, they feel amazing, like a new person, ready to take on the world - but that feeling fades away and your new weight becomes the "norm" (or worst, you put the weight back on!) and we become complacent once again.

I want to change that.

This time, I took a different approach to weight loss, or more appropriately, life transformation. I thought to myself, what's my mission? What do I want to have happen at the end of this program? What type of women should graduate from LBD?

Three things came to mind...

Stronger - Sexier - Unstoppable

So I sat down and got to work and create the most powerful, in depth program we've ever released. With the end goal - stronger, sexier, unstoppable - in mind, I knew what to do.

Now before we go any further, I want to make something VERY clear: I am not making any claims or accusations that you are not strong, sexy or unstoppable already - I'm simply saying we can get STRONGER, SEXIER, and even MORE CONFIDENT.

We are going to use a three sided approach to getting you Stronger, Sexier and Unstoppable.

1 - Cardio Training
2 - Resistance (weight) Training
3 - HIIT Training (High Intensity Interval Training)

The combination of these three strategies will help you lose weight, especially in those stubborn, hard to lose areas as well as tone, tighten and sculpt your body into the one of your dreams.

You will also have access to a full, 6 week meal plan specifically designed for women and yes, it has some chocolate in it;)

One of the BEST aspects of the program is the DAILY motivational emails. That's right, each day, from the start of the program to the end, you will receive an email to motivate you, encourage you, and transform you into a stronger, sexier and unstoppable YOU.

Throughout this program you will be encouraged, motivated, lifted up and lead to be ultimate version of you, to raise the bar, to raise your standards, and to be a strong, sexy and unstoppable lady.

I know I keep saying "nothing like we've ever done before" and that's because, well quite honestly, I want to "give you a heads up"...

We've not only created an empowering program on the mental side as we re-frame your brain to see yourself as unstoppable, but we've completely engineered new, lady specific workouts that deliver powerful results throughout the body. From lean legs to a firm behind to a tight belly to a toned back to defined arms - this program has it.

Say bye-bye to flabby arms, jiggly legs, love handles, baby weight, bat wings, and what ever other names you call your "problem areas"...

Now, as for times - we deliberated over quite a few day/times options, and went to you guy's for voting - and the results were nearly 75% in favor of Mon and Weds at 6AM and Tue-Thurs at 7PM

I know it doesn't fit EVERYONE'S schedule, but we had to pick something!

Oh, before I forget though... this program has been jamming my emails with inquiries but I need to remind everyone up front that SPACE IS LIMITED and there are NO exceptions.

We are going to be launching the program on Monday, July 20th at 6AM and it will run for 6 weeks.

Classes are going to be 4 days a week, Monday and Wednesday at 6am, and Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm, all for 1 hour each.

In September, the LBD program with DOUBLE in cost and run at $299, but for the first BETA program we are slashing it in half and launching it at $149 + HST.

Let me remind you... it is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.

Oh, and one last thing... I know it's summer, and some of you have already mentioned you will need to miss a week here, or a class there, etc. That's OKAY. Don't get me wrong, 4 days a week is IDEAL for total benefits, but it is NOT a big deal if you miss a class here and there or are out enjoying some holidays - that's all part of life!

Okay, I think I covered just about everything! Between this and our huge Fitness After Dark (click HERE) event tomorrow night, my brain feels like mush trying to plan everything so I'm going to wrap it up :)

Little Black Dress Project
Mon-Wed at 6AM
Tue-Thu at 7PM
Starts Monday, July 20th at 6AM
6 weeks
This time only, $149
FIRST COME FIRST SERVE

Stronger - Sexier - Unstoppable

To your success

Al

PS - If enough is enough, if you are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, if you have had it and now is the time, LBD will empower you to create the body of your dreams, the life you deserve.

Article

I came across this article a few months ago, and it's been sitting in the back of my mind ever since and I think you should read it. This is NOT my article. It's a direct copy paste from his site, link below title.

Let's dive in...

"A Friend No Longer Worth Knowing
By Dan Pearce, http://www.danoah.com/2014/09/a-friend-no-longer-worth-knowing.html

Gah. I am about to break one of my own personal rules. The rule that says, “don’t hang your dirty relationship laundry out for the world to see.” I’m a big believer that you should air that crap out in private. Publicly deriding anyone is usually not cool. But this time I feel that it is warranted for the greater discussion.

You see, I have this friend. Well, had this friend.

But I’ll get to him. First I want to talk about me.

This is me.

dan-pearce-life-is-good

My life has evolved in such amazing ways. It has become almost ridiculously easy for me to push all drama and negativity out of my life in my eternal quest to be happy. When I look in the mirror, I see a strong person. I see a devoted person. I see a faithful person. And more than anything, I see a happy person. I like the person I see in the mirror, and I think I like him most because for the first 32 years or so of my life, I never got to see that person looking back at me.

Part of the road to get here involved leaving behind certain people in my life who were never anything but hindrances to my progression. Some I cut completely out of my life; others I limited my interaction with so that they couldn’t have the same negative effect they once had. I believe the only way anyone can be truly happy is to make these tough choices, fill his life with only the people who are healthy happy parts of that life, and learn how not to fear those separations of ties when they come.

Yes, I believe that with all of my heart.

I also haven’t lived it fully. Until now.

You see, this other friend, who I will call Peter, was the one friend I couldn’t give up on. He was the one friend who I did not want to let go of. He was also the one friend who did more to damage my ability to be happy than anyone else ever has.
Let me tell you about Peter.

This is Peter.

friend-no-longer-wroth-knowing

I know many of you knew him when he and I spent so much time together. Many of you loved him. Many of you will think it horrible of me to write this today. But I have to do it.

You see, Peter is a sad and lonely man. But he wasn’t always that way.

I’ve known Peter since I was a small child, and back then he was different. He was light-hearted and happy. He had so much energy. We used to run through fields finding snakes together. We used to plot our ridiculous treasure hunts together. We used to play together, and laugh together, and we really lived life together.

Then things changed. For both of us. Late elementary school and junior high were not kind to us. Both of us experienced heavy bullying and persecution. Both of us seemed to lose all of our confidence. Both of us longed for validation and affirmation in our lives. Both of us longed to belong. Both of us, with time, really started to hate ourselves. And we remained friends. Best friends. Through the tough times of our youth, I believe we became co-dependent on one another in so many ways. I could not make any decisions without his input. He could not make any decisions without mine.

With time, we both went to college together. We both began to explore the world together. We both ventured into the world of girls together. Boy, was that scary. I still remember how excited I was for that. Peter used to love telling me that no girl would ever really love me. I believed him far more often than I should have.

Eventually we both got married. And that is when things started to change between Peter and me. We started to become distanced from each other. A tiny bit then, but distanced nonetheless.

We still kept each other deeply enrooted in each other’s lives, but I began going down one path and he began going down another.

We were both sad and miserable in those adult years. Neither of us had a strong marriage. Neither of us was happy.

We both started packing on the pounds. I think we were both in a 3XL shirt and size 46 pants when I finally said, “enough.” I remember the scale read 350 lbs. that day. I don’t know what Peter weighed. I think he was heavier than that. Much heavier.

Oh, Peter. What happened from that point on, my dear friend? What has led to this moment where I have no choice but to say goodbye forever?

Why couldn’t you have stepped on the scale and thought the same things I thought.

I thought, I am better than this. I don’t know what you thought, if you thought anything at all. I only know that I began to change for the better after that, and you either got worse or you remained the same; I don’t know which. I only know that the more I turned my life around from that point on, the harder it was to know you; the harder it was to believe you were a friend worth knowing at all.

I did what I had to do to lose weight. I started exercising and getting healthy. With each pound down, and each loss of a pant size, I began to feel more worthy of love and respect. My confidence began growing. The self-esteem of my youngest years started returning.

And with every step I took, and with every drop of sweat to drip off of me, you were there. Hounding me. Telling me I couldn’t do it. Telling me that it couldn’t last. Telling me that my happiness and confidence were temporary. And for some reason, always telling me that no woman would ever truly love me no matter what I did.

I will never understand that, Peter. I will never understand that. Friends don’t do that to each other.

I lost 50 lbs. You were there to tell me you could see no difference. All you did was complain about your own life at that point. All you did was tell me I’d be back to join you soon enough. We argued a lot around that time. I still remember pulling out a photograph in which I felt so skinny, and you just pointed out all the faults you could still see. Why?

I lost another 30 lbs. I was feeling so good about my life and where I was headed. And I kept you in my life, even though you would not shut up. And you still would not stop saying such negative things to me. You told me I would never be good enough. You called me a fraud. You told me that everything I was doing was for all the wrong reasons. You again told me, repeatedly, that you and I were the same.

I eventually lost 30 more. I was down 110 lbs. at that point. And that’s when you said those words I will never forget. “Getting healthy doesn’t make you better than me. No one will love you any more than they have ever loved me. Which is not much at all.”

Those words, Peter. Those words. They cut deeper than you could ever imagine. I cried for me, because part of me believed you. I cried for you because I realized what a sad and lonely man you really are.

It was when I heard those words come out of your mouth that I finally began truly distancing myself from you.

I refused to cut you out completely, though. At that point, I still held onto our friendship as best I could. I kept a lot of distance between us, yes. But I still kept you around. You can’t ever tell me I didn’t.

You see. I love you, Peter. I have always loved you. You have always been a person with value. At your best, and at your worst. Nothing you ever do or say will change that. Your size did not make you more or less valuable. Your low self-esteem did not make you more or less valuable. I am not finally cutting you out because you are not valuable. You need to know that. I am cutting you out because you are a hindrance to my happiness. Knowing you, and keeping you in my life, does not benefit my life. It only benefits yours.

I am going to be blunt and honest now. You are still the same person you were the day I tipped the scales at 350 lbs. You are still the same miserable, negative, hurting person that you were then. You have not changed. You have only gotten louder about it in attempt to regain my attention.

The further away I get from you, the louder and more obnoxious you seem to be whenever I let you back in.

Cutting you out today is the hardest thing I have ever done. But it is necessary. For my happiness. For my child’s happiness. And for my future. A future which will be wonderful and incredible and full of only the people I love who will keep the negativity and hurtful voices out.

Ugh. This is not what I intended. I did not intend for this to be a letter directly to you, my old friend. I intended for this to be a discussion with my readers about our friendship. But see, you haunt me still. I love you still. At the same time I love you, I hate you. And for this, I will not make it any harder than it has to be…

We are done. You are no longer a part of my life. And though you don’t want to hear it, I will spend the rest of my life trying to forget that we were ever such good friends at all. To do so is to let your negative voice fill my head once more. And I just can’t do that any longer.

If you reply, I will not read it. I will not listen. If you promise me change, I will not believe it. I have a lifetime of such empty promises of change from you. I can’t take even one more empty promise.

It is better this way. Maybe not for you. But for me.
You are the final person in my life from whom I need to free myself. Putting you into my rearview mirror is a major piece of my bigger happiness puzzle.

Goodbye, old friend.

Goodbye.

You are a friend no longer worth knowing.

I’m doing this for me.

Yes, for me…

And I’m at peace with that.

Oh, and did I mention who Peter actually was?

Peter was me. Or at least he was a part of me. And that part of me is a friend no longer worth knowing."

Back to me...
So, what did you think?

I think we all have our own versions of "Peter" that we struggle with, and I think enough is enough, it's time to put that struggle to rest, it's time to let "Peter" go.

It's time to stop holding yourself back.
It's time to stop living a lie.
It's time to stop being less than you can be.
It's time to stop settling for less than you were destined to be.

It's time to STEP UP.
It's time to take charge of your life.
It's time to grab the controls and take your life where you want it.
It's time to RAISE YOUR STANDARDS.
It's time to BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE.
It's time to be FREE.

Don't let another day go by settling for less than you deserve to be.

You are amazing, worthy of so much more - now make it happen.

To your success,

Al
